Colour of the Year 2023: Viva Magenta

Hot on the heels of the WGSN and Coloro colour of the year announcement (digital lavender by the way, read more here) Pantone have officially named Viva Magenta 18-1750 as their colour of the year for 2023.

"It is a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative."

Pantone are predicting we'll see the shade in everything next year, from fashion to interiors and of course stationery design.

Powerful and empowering, Viva Magenta is a new animated red that “revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.” It is a colour that is audacious, full of charm and inclusive of all.

Adding splashes of magenta to a wedding colour theme isn't new, it's been a popular colour for years, but thanks to this fresh new shade and it officially being deemed colour of the year it's an easy choice if you have been a bit unsure if it was the colour for your big day.

Add accents of the shade to your day through the smaller details, for example your cake, flowers and even your shoes!
